[SOLVED] BeST has problems importing Excel XLS files
Mon, 07/26/2010 - 14:35
I created a couple different Bibles in Excel with the correct format, containing 31102 lines each.
When I tried to convert them to .bbl or .bblx files, BeST Standard v2.1.0.4 would read the files up to exactly line 26000 and them say it was finished. The files worked perfect up to Luke 18:30 and then the rest of the Bibles were missing. I thought maybe there were some bad characters in the files, but I then tried to split the files up into NT and OT for each Bible (so I now had 4 files to convert), and each one of these converted perfectly successfully, so obviously there are no character issues.
Having a NT and OT version of each Bible is certainly not ideal, though so I then tried converting the original XLS files into CSV files.
BeST succesfully converted these files and did not stop at line 26000 but continued right to the end to line 31102.
So if you have a problem with XLS files, convert them to CSV first and that should solve it.
Thanks

Re: [SOLVED] BeST has problems importing Excel XLS files
The other option you have is to have an excel file that contains 1-26,000 and another with the remainder. Then Import the first file. Then import the second file into the same .bblx that you just created. BeST will give you the option to overwrite or update. Choose update and it will continue to import.
