How to create header and footnotes in Bible Modules?
Mon, 03/08/2010 - 17:38
I'm creating a Bible module.
I create my text as .txt and use the "B C¶V-V" format.
a) Header?
How do I create a header in a chapter?
ex:
The Beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. etc.
b) Footnotes?
How do I create active footnote links?
ex:
The Beginning
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty (1), darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. etc.
(1) In Hebrew: Tohu wa bohu

You have to add the RTF markup yourself.
How do I create active footnote links?
Those are created in a commentary resource. You can demarcate them in the Bible by using blue subscripts --- which require that you do that RTF markup manually.

You don't say what program you are using but I am assuming you are using BeST.
If this is the case send me an address where I can email you and I will send you a sample of how to create a header for a Bible text. I have tried posting it here but the web page interpretes the codes and rather than showing you what codes you have to insert in the text it translates the codes just like BeST will. My email is
I suggest you check out the following page on this website. http://e-sword-users.org/users/node/490
It will explain several details you need to know about formats and codes for creating modules. You can find this link on the BeST menu, BeST How To's, Importing Text Files page.
As for footnotes you can use BeST to create a commentary for that and it will be active and connected to whatever book, chapter and verse you assign to each footnote. If you want to know how to create a commentary there are instructions for using BeST to create a commentary on the following page on this website
http://e-sword-users.org/users/node/4240
You can find this page also in the BeST menu, BeST How To's, MsWord and BeST: Making a commentary page.
Hope this helps.
