9.x version does not show local language characters when uploading using BeST
Tue, 02/23/2010 - 12:36
I created a Bible module in Latvian, and it worked perfectly with e-sword 8.x when I uploaded with BeST.
Now, version 9.5.1 allows to upload the Latvian Bible, but does not show all language characters.
It does show š, but does not show all others: ā, ē, ī, ķ, ļ etc.

Re: 9.x version does not show local language characters when ...
I have the problem with searching the Croatian bible in e-sword 9. I use Croatian bible form 8.0 and convert with 8 to 9 converter and it produced bblx file. When I use it in e-sword 9 I can see font properly but I can’t search for a word which contains eastern Europe character.
I tried to use Best for making bblx of Croatian bible but it didn’t work. I received message like this:

Then I set registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1, but It didn’t work I received the same message.

The version of BeST you downloaded likely doesn't have the System.Data.SQLite.dll file. The installer may not put that file in the right place. It is one of the bugs that I need to fix.
I've placed a copy of this file on <<http://e-sword-users.org/BeST/upgrades/System.Data.SQLite.zip>> Decompress this file into your BeST folder and that error should go away.

However, BeST may not convert it properly to searchable. This is still apparently an outstanding issue with BeST.
Searching is the priority that I have right now.

Yes, BEST2 is working now, but bblx file of Croatian bible which BEST2 produced still is not searchable. I will try onece again.
Thanks,

Re: 9.x version does not show local language characters when ...
I found out that Croatian Bible in 9.0 is searchable but if I put \u269? instead of č, \u353? instead of ć, \u353 instead of š etc. in Bible search dialog box in e-sword 9.
I found ‘code’ for every Croatian character when I opened old Croatian.bbl I saw that instead of č it is written \u269?, instead of ć \u353?...
So maybe it is some problem with searching engine in e-sword 9, I’ don’t know. I’m not programmer I’m just little bit advanced user which very often use e-sword form my daily reading as well for preparing lectures for kids in Sunday school.

Re: 9.x version does not show local language characters when ...
When uploading to e-sword 8 I did not select any language, I left it blank and it worked.
In the Bible text it converts ī into i, ā into a, ž into z, ļ into l, etc. to regular latin letters, except for š, which stays the same. In searching window it skips latvian letters altogether. But I would not bother about searching so much right now, I am more concerned with the regular Bible text.
When creating it with BeST, which 'Language' did you pick on the 'Details' section?
What is shown instead of the Latvian characters?
In His Name,
Ben.
